Building Skills Through Real-World Workplace Activities

These self-directed learning activities span a range of skills and levels. They are task-based activities based on authentic workplace situations to provide real-life examples of LFS at a specific level or stage. Each activity activates prior knowledge, develops skills, and allows reflection on achievements.
The activities can be used by:

Learners and employees to help them better understand their LFS level in an authentic workplace context.
Instructors and program developers as exemplars for developing authentic LFS tasks for the training and assessment of learners.
Employers to share with their employees to allow them to better understand their language needs in authentic workplace contexts.

The activities in the LFS toolkit are of varying skills and levels. There is not a corresponding activity for each skill at each stage or level.

Adaptability helps learners adjust to new situations, respond to change with confidence, and use language effectively in different real-life contexts.

Digital

Digital helps learners build confidence using technology, online tools, and digital communication skills needed for learning, work, and everyday life.

Collaboration

Collaboration helps learners work effectively with others, share ideas, communicate clearly, and build teamwork skills for real-life, academic, and professional situations.

Numeracy

Numeracy helps learners understand and use numbers, measurements, and basic math skills confidently in everyday, academic, and workplace situations.

Creativity and Innovation
